Encountering Simcoe County

Simcoe County is located in the central section of Southern Ontario. Just north of the Greater Toronto Area, the picturesque county stretches from the shores of Lake Simcoe in the east to Georgian Bay in the west. Communities such as Wasaga Beach, Collingwood, Midland, Barrie, and Orillia offer many escapes from busy city life while still supporting urban culture.
The county, established in 1843, has an estimated population of 465,000 people, offering social housing, ambulance and emergency planning, environmental services, a County road system, children’s services and homes for the aged. Along with this list, a library co-operative, museums, archives, Country forest management and a Geographic Information System allow for county development.  Being comprised of 16 towns and townships, Simcoe municipalities offer clean water services, recreational services along with fire and police services.

The Economy
Tourism plays an intricate part in the economy for Simcoe and its residents. Come for a visit and try the taste of the season, most vendors offer full meals and a variety of beverages to take home.
